What a second attempt costs
About 62% of first-time life exam takers pass nationally (NAIC, latest published data). A second attempt costs the exam fee again and another scheduling round. That is the argument for putting the hours in before you book the seat, not after.
Thirty seven of the fifty exams we cover pass at 70, either 70 percent correct or a scaled 70. Alabama writes the same bar as a count, 87 correct of 125. California passes at 60 percent, Michigan at 72 percent, Mississippi at 65 percent, and Montana at a scaled 75. Seven states publish no number at all, and two publish a scaled score with no life specific mark.

What does the License Pass cost?
$99 once. There is no subscription on the licensing side and nothing to cancel. Agencies on a RingReady roster have their own rate, and the agency owner has that number.
How long do I keep it?
Until you pass. Most exam prep runs on a 30, 60, or 90 day window and sells extensions when the window closes. This one has no clock, so a delayed exam date costs you nothing.
Is this prelicensing education?
No. This is exam practice. Many states require prelicensing education from a provider the state insurance department lists, and this does not replace it or count toward it. Where your state requires those hours, do them with a listed provider and practice here alongside.
Can I try it before I pay?
Yes. The placement is free and never counts against your allowance, the mastery map is free, and your first 20 study questions are free. The state practice tests are free with no account at all.

RingReady sells study materials and practice exams for the life insurance licensing exam. We are not a state-approved prelicensing education provider, and practicing here does not by itself satisfy any state's education requirement.
If your state requires prelicensing education, you must complete it with an approved provider; your state insurance department publishes the approved list. What we do is make sure that when you sit down for the real exam, the questions feel familiar.
